Frequently Asked
Questions

Got questions about therapy with me? Got questions about therapy in general? You might find the answer here.

  • How often should I go to therapy?
The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Many clients attend therapy once a week, while others may attend less frequently. I will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan.
  • Why do FAQs matter?
FAQs are a great way to help site visitors find quick answers to common questions about your business and create a better navigation experience.
  • I've never been to therapy before. What's it like?
We'll start by getting to know each other. In your first therapy session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals for treatment. If you don't know what your goal is, that's Ok. We'll figure it out together. As we progress, I'll continue to get to know you, your life, and what challenges you're facing. I don't give a lot of advice. My guess is that you have people in your life who give advice and it's not helpful because they aren't experts in your life. I'm not either. You are the expert in your life. What I will do is ask you questions and challenge you. Sometimes that means helping you see things differently, making a decision, or trying something new.
  • How long will it take?
My goal is to hear you say "Thanks, I/we've got it from here Lindsay." With just a few sessions, my clients often feel some relief knowing they've taken the first step to changing what's bothering them. As our work continues and we build trust, we might get into deeper issues. That's up to you. Many clients find that 12-20 sessions is enough for them to feel confident that with the new tools, increased self-understanding and insight gained in therapy, they can solve life's challenges on their own. That's my goal for you.
  • What is an FAQ section?
An FAQ section can be used to quickly answer common questions about your business like "Where do you ship to?", "What are your opening hours?", or "How can I book a service?".
  • Will therapy help?
Of course I can't say "yes" without knowing you or your life's challenges. But I can say that simply being able to talk to someone who listens to what you say (and don't say) is a great first step to finding your way forward. If you're here reading this page, it's probably time to try something new.
  • Where can I add my FAQs?
FAQs can be added to any page on your site or to your Wix mobile app, giving access to members on the go.
  • What are your fees? Do you take insurance?
My fees are $125 for a 50-minute session for individuals and $145 for a 50-minute session for couples or groups. I'm private-pay only because insurance companies are...not great. In a nutshell, they don't pay me enough to actually cover my costs and stay in business. I know, sorry. I can provide a superbill to help with reimbursement from your insurance provider.
  • Do you see triads, quads, etc?
Yep. Bring the whole crew and let's get to work. I can help your group improve communication, identify needs and wants, and have relationships with less conflict (or at least better-managed conflict. Therapy isn't magic.).
  • We just keep having the same disagreements over and over. How will therapy help?
If the same issues keep coming up, it's time to try something new. In my work with couples, I find that it's not really about who does the dishes. We'll work together to identify the deeper issues so we can expose them to the light of day and decide how to go about solving those issues.
  • You say your focus is nonmonogamy. What does that mean?
Monogamy can be great. Nonmonogamy can be great. Polyamory (a type of nonmonogamy) can be great. The important part is that YOU get to choose what's right for you. My expertise in nonmonogamy comes from over 10 years of living nonmonogamously, facilitating local polyamory discussion groups, and a ridiculous amount of reading research articles on the scientific study of polyamory and nonmonogamy.
  • Can I insert an image, video, or GIF in my FAQ?
Yes. To add media follow these steps: 1. Manage FAQs from your site dashboard or in the Editor 2. Create a new FAQ or edit an existing one 3. From the answer text box click on the video, image or GIF icon 4. Add media from your library and save.
