Frequently Asked
Questions

Got questions about therapy with me? Got questions about therapy in general? You might find the answer here.

What are your fees? Do you take insurance?

My fees are $130 for a 55-minute session. I'm private-pay only because insurance companies are...not great. In a nutshell, they don't pay me enough to actually cover my costs and stay in business. I know, sorry. I can provide a superbill to help with reimbursement from your insurance provider. Learn more about payments.

Will therapy help?

Of course I can't say "yes" without knowing you or your life's challenges. But I can say that simply being able to talk to someone who listens to what you say (and don't say) is a great first step to finding your way forward. If you're here reading this page, it's probably time to try something new.

How long will it take?

My goal is to hear you say "Thanks, I/we've got it from here Lindsay." With just a few sessions, my clients often feel some relief knowing they've taken the first step to changing what's bothering them. As our work continues and we build trust, we might get into deeper issues. That's up to you. Many clients find that 12-20 sessions is enough for them to feel confident that with the new tools, increased self-understanding and insight gained in therapy, they can solve life's challenges on their own. That's my goal for you.

I've never been to therapy before. What's it like?

We'll start by getting to know each other.  In your first therapy session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals for treatment.  If you don't know what your goal is, that's Ok. We'll figure it out together. As we progress, I'll continue to get to know you, your life, and what challenges you're facing. I don't give a lot of advice. My guess is that you have people in your life who give advice and it's not helpful because they aren't experts in your life. I'm not either. You are the expert in your life. What I will do is ask you questions and challenge you. Sometimes that means helping you see things differently, making a decision, or trying something new.
